Writers Week

Both/And Writers' Week

This year we will explore the fluidity of artistic expression across boundaries of genre, mode, and medium, troubling the notion that we write best when siloed by category or convention. Through readings, craft talks, panels, and generative sessions, we’ll celebrate the ways artists refuse limits in pursuit of their vision, in service of vivid and dynamic storytelling. We’ll be joined by poets who are also translators, prose writers who report and invent, makers who employ both language and image, artists who are also activists, editors, and teachers. How do such practitioners maintain a balance between these facets of their practice and of their lives? How does such multiplicity inform a writer’s identity on the page and in the world? By inviting participation in such conversation, we hope to offer an expanded sense of possibility, of what can be conceived, made, and shared when we reject binary thinking in favor of unboundedness.
